Training – 7 X 800

The training program today was to do 800 meter repeats with 400 meter recovery jogs in between on the treadmill with an incline on the 800 meter segments.  I did the following for this particular training exercise:

1.       400 meters at 5.3 mph, 0% incline

2.       800 meters at 5.9 mph, .5% incline

3.       400 meters at 5.3 mph, 0% incline

4.       800 meters at 5.9 mph, 1% incline

5.       400 meters at 5.3 mph, 0% incline

6.       800 meters at 5.9 mph, 1.5% incline

7.       400 meters at 5.3 mph, 0% incline

8.      800 meters at 5.9 mph, 2% incline

9.       400 meters at 5.3 mph, 0% incline

10.   800 meters at 5.9 mph, 1.5% incline

11.    400 meters at 5.3 mph, 0% incline

12.    800 meters at 5.9 mph, 1% incline

13.    400 meters at 5.3 mph, 0% incline

14.    800 meters at 5.9 mph, .5% incline

15.    400 meters at 5.3 mph, 0% incline

I then completed a 5 minute cool down on the treadmill, going from 4.5, to 4.0, to 3.8, to 3.5 and finally 3.3 mph for a minute each.

This is one of the training routines that I feel will not only help me out with the half marathon, but also with the full marathon.  We will see … half marathon first.
